USGA Average Golf Scores & Handicaps

Here's the scoop on golf scores and handicaps, with a sprinkle of giggles:

The typical golfer's score? A staggering 94 – because who needs to be perfect when you can be perfectly average?

For the fellas, the average handicap is 14.0, showing they're working hard to be almost okay at this.

And for the gals? Their average handicap is 28.0 – obviously, they're multitasking more than just putts and drives!

I have been in the Scratch Group for 15 years. Leon Chapman (Chapy) has done an amazing job of requesting multiple groups for every Monday, Friday and Saturday and handling any of the changes that frequently occur when people have to drop out for various reasons on a given day (A very big job!).

If you are looking for good people and great lower handicap competition the Scratch Group Is well worth checking out.

I have been part of the Scratch Golf Group for several years. It is a very competitive group of low handicap golfers. We are serious and competitive and still have a lot of fun. It’s always a challenge. I’ve made numerous friends while playing in the group.

I have been a member of the Scratch Group since moving to SCG in mid 2021. I was keen to find a group of low handicap players to compete against and the Scratch Group has provided just that. The format we use provides me with the opportunity to compete on both an individual and team level which I enjoy.

I'm new with the Grand Scratch Group and one of the younger guys. Who knew these mature-aged guys still have game? These guys do and they're really good. I enjoy the guys, the camaraderie, and the individual and team competition. It helps to keep my game sharp playing with other low-handicap guys.

I was invited to join the Scratch Group in 2021. I was looking for a competitive group of lower handicap players. The group is really fun and the players are awesome to play golf with. However, you do need to bring your “A” game! The scratch group is run by Leon Chapman whose endless efforts are appreciated by all the players.

I have been a member of the Scratch Group for 9 years now and can think of no where else I would like to be. The great people that I have met and get to play golf with has truly enriched my life. The competition is second to none as we have many of the Club Champions of Grand in our group including myself. Leon does a masterful job of figuring out the daily groups and the format rewards not only my teams good play but my individual play as well. Everyone has a great time and jokes abound.
